πŸŽ… CODE RED: Christmas at the North Pole

Santa's Cardiac Emergency Department

It's Christmas Eve and the North Pole Medical Center is overwhelmed. Santa has chest pain. Mrs. Claus has palpitations. An elf just collapsed in the toy workshop.

You're the emergency cardiology team responsible for saving Christmas.

🎁 The twist: Earn a Christmas ornament for every case you solve. Collect all five to save Christmas.

Work through 12 EKG challenges inspired by The 12 Days of Christmas. Each one reveals a diagnosis or a key management decision.

When it's all on you

Day 2 puts you in the hot seat. No attending at the bedside, and every decision changes what happens next.

❄️ The Cardiology Blizzard

Trapped in the Hospital: A Winter Cardiac Survival Challenge
The roads are closed. The cardiologist is snowed in. You're in charge.

A major snowstorm has shut the city down. You're the APP covering overnight, the cath lab team is delayed, and several patients suddenly deteriorate.

⏱️ The twist: Limited time for every decision, and each choice changes the next part of the scenario.

Tonight's deteriorations

  • Unstable atrial fibrillation
  • Chest pain with a nondiagnostic first EKG
  • Heart failure patient turning hypotensive
  • New complete heart block
  • Sustained wide-complex tachycardia

🏠 Home Alone: The Cardiology Edition

You're the only provider covering. What do you do next?
No attending at the bedside. No time to panic. Just you, your EKG, and your clinical judgment.

Five pages come in within 20 minutes. Which patient do you see first? This is a clinical prioritization game:

  • Who is unstable?
  • Which EKG is most dangerous?
  • Who needs immediate intervention?
  • Who can safely wait?
  • Who needs escalation to the attending or rapid response?

Sort it, solve it, save the day

πŸ“œ The Naughty or Nice EKG List

Which EKGs are safe, and which ones are dangerous?
Some EKGs deserve reassurance. Others deserve a STAT cardiology consult.

A fast-paced class with 15 EKGs. Sort each one onto the list, then learn what extra clinical information would change the call.

πŸ—³οΈ The twist: You vote on every EKG before the answer is revealed.

Check it twice

🟒 NiceUsually benign or fine for routine follow-up
🟑 Check It TwiceNeeds additional evaluation
πŸ”΄ NaughtyPotentially dangerous, needs urgent action

πŸ•΅οΈ Someone Stole Santa's EKGs!

Twelve missing EKGs. Five suspects. One cardiology detective team.

Someone has stolen the EKG records from the North Pole Cardiology Department. Reconstruct the diagnoses using clinical clues, rhythm strips, labs, and imaging. Each solved case reveals another clue about the culprit.

The case files

  • Who caused the patient's prolonged QT?
  • Which medication triggered the bradycardia?
  • Why the sudden wide-complex rhythm?
  • Which electrolyte abnormality explains the EKG?
  • What caused the unexplained syncope?
